MAJOR TROPHY SHOW RESULTS

NORTHERN TRANSVAAL BULL TERRIER CLUB OPEN SHOW:

Here is the schedule for the NTBTC’s important Open Show on Saturday at the Thaba Tswane Military Sports Club in Pretoria.

The show starts at 14:00.  Our judge is The Bull Terrier Club (UK) Treasurer, Eddie Ball, who is a Bull Terrier Championship Show breeder/judge with international experience.  He is on his first visit to South Africa and enjoyed our Major Trophy Show on Saturday.  He is a superb person and thorough English gentleman who is looking forward to judging his first African show on Saturday.  He will also attend the after-show braai and is looking forward to meeting as many members of our Bully fraternity as possible.  Eddie is visiting the Kruger National Park this week and is doing it all at his own expense and costing no club a cent, so come and support this friendly, generous man in droves with your Bullies and your families.

The widely known international Bull Terrier judge and personality, Ron Scott, was supposed to accompany Eddie and be his co-judge, but a serious health problem struck him at the last moment and he was forced to withdraw and stay home in England.  Ron is however here in heart and soul and would very much have loved to see us all in person, but unfortunately we have to do without him.  Anyhow, we still have Eddie and he is highly knowledgeable and has much of it to share with us.

SOUTH AFRICAN BULL TERRIER CLUB BRING AND BRAAI AND SEMINAR ON SUNDAY FROM 11:00 ONWARDS

Eddie Ball will address a seminar on what he has seen at the MTS and NTBTC Open Show on Sunday, 12^th February - the day immediately after the NTBTC Show -  at Andre and Doulina Strydom’s place in Honeydew at 11:00.

Eddie will tell us what he has seen and found in our dogs during his visit and judging and also demonstrate the Breed Standard on dogs provided specially for the occasion, after which all present will enjoy a BULLY BRING & BRAAI under the shady trees in the Strydom’s Honeydew lapa or in case of rain, in their indoor braai hall.  Fire and coals will be provided, so all you have to bring are your families, crockery, eats and drinks and come and enjoy yourselves.  If you want to show any of your dogs or puppies to Eddie, you are most welcome to bring them along in secure travelling boxes or crates, and there will be plenty of time for questions and answers during Eddie’s lecture. 

We held a highly successful bring and braai at the same venue shortly before Christmas, attended by about 20 people who enjoyed themselves thoroughly and had lots of fun.  Now we want at least 3 times that number.  So be sure to attend  this event and help us build a much needed new, friendly spirit in Southern African Bull Terrierdom.

There is ample parking close to the braai area and there is also a kiddies playground with foofy slides, swings, a sand pit, tree walking on ropes, a tree house and they can run and kick balls on the expansive lawns behind the parking area.  So let’s make this a special fun weekend and Sunday a “lekker” Bullybraai day!  You don’t have to be a Bull Terrier fan or member of any club to attend these events.  Just rock up with your eats and drinks!

Best Coloured Bitch: Chrismarnic Manta, Bred by Chris Kleynhans (Western Cape), owned by Thelma Venter (Western Cape).

RECOGNITION OF MERIT AWARD [ROM]

The updated and latest SABTC Recognition of Merit Award (ROM) rules and regulations as from May 2011 can be found here. This system has been in operation without interruption since January 2005, but unfortunately was not properly publicised in the past.  It will now be properly promoted on this Website and in SABTC NewsBullytins.  Only four special champion Bull Terriers have qualified for this prestigious award since 2005.  They are the bitch, Ch Dajamani Valnico of Bellators (Supreme Bull Terrier 2005), and the dogs, Ch Dajan Skies the Limit at Sandawana - Imported UK (Supreme BT 2004 & Stud Dog of the Year 2006), Ch Carradice Free Spirit and Ch Lubjan Monchou of Rhizen (Supreme BT 2010), in that order.  Although Ch Carradice Free Spirit was not crowned Supreme Bull Terrier, he has been Stud Dog of the Year the past two years.  This is a clear indication of how extremely special the ROM title is to indicate the very best of the best of our Champions.  This title should spur us on to show our Champions in the Champions class and also show our aspiring champions for CC’s and BOB to gain ROM points by beating Champions for BOB at Championship shows.  The fully updated ROM Register will soon be published on this Website.
