SABTC –
Championship Show critique 27th November 2010
Joe
Schiller – Centuria
Firstly I would like to thank the SABTC chairman and committee for the
honour of being chosen to officiate at this prestigious event. The show
ran smoothly and was well attended resulting in myself enjoying the show
to the fullest. I want to wish the Chairman and committee all the best
for the future and trust that the club will grow from strength to
strength.
General comments: in all I found no reason to disqualify any exhibit and
found all male dogs to be entire.
Best of Breed: No.
25 CH Lubjan
Monchou of Rhizen:
A
powerhouse of a white dog in his prime. While he was handled well, on
his own he is an excellent example of what a Bull Terrier should be,
tall, upstanding with loads of bone and substance, a deep broad chest
and elbows held close to the chest wall, his overall spring of rib, bone
and substance gave him an easy win on the day. Also he has a deep,
strong, egg-shaped head with a correct mouth and a broad muzzle.
Perfectly placed ears and eyes give him a wicked expression, while his
level topline and correct tail placement finish the pleasing picture. On
the move he is parallel and wide both coming and going, while from the
side he has plenty of reach and great drive. Also
won Best Champion Dog, Best Mover, Best Substance and Best White on
Show.
Reserve Best of Breed: No. 26
CH Westbul
Xavierra of Franjan:
A tall, upstanding bitch that oozes elegance and moved well in all
directions with drive and power. Her head is smooth and long with
correctly placed ears and eyes and a scissors bite. She has a long neck
that flows into a level topline with a correct tail set, hindquarters
were well muscled and she has good angulation. Although she does not
have the shortest of backs, she has enough virtue and type to be worthy
of the Reserve BoB. Also won Best Champion
Bitch.
Challenge Certificate Dog: No.
37 Shodan Chilly Pepper:
A cobby
red dog with a wicked expression due to his small triangular eyes and
well placed ears. A well filled and turned head defines the one thing
unique to Bull Terriers. He has good bone and substance with a deep
broad chest and a straight, gun barrel front, moved well with drive and
reach. Also pleasing on the eye was the dog’s rich red colour as often
these days it is difficult to find a coloured dog whose coat is as the
standard describes. Also won Best Coloured and
Best Junior in show.
Reserve Challenge Certificate: Dog No. 28 Ipon Duque of
Carradice:
I feel I must mention him as it was a close call for the CC. I
really liked this dog’s head, substance and bone as well, but the
overall type of the winner just pipped him on the day, also he was a
good mover in all directions.
Challenge Certificate Bitch: No. 8
Bellators
Bells Are Ringing of Lubjan:
A cobby white bitch that has a stunning head, egg shaped and with
plenty of fill, also has a broad muzzle, small eyes and ears with a
piercing expression. She is compact and has tremendous bone and
substance for a bitch, while all the time being feminine. Even though
she has a mouth fault, being undershot, she is a picture of quality.
She moves well, square both coming and going and with good reach and
drive from the side. She has a deep, broad chest, plenty of spring of
rib, well angulated stifles and a pleasing topline with a level tail
set. Also won Best Head.
Best Puppy: No.
15 Franjan
Zorro Eye Spy:
A white
dog with an adequate head, correct mouth, has small triangular ears that
he holds erect. If I have to be critical, his elbows are not his
virtue, being loose. An elegant long neck flows into a level topline
with correct tail placement. He has a good bend of stifle with well
muscled hind quarters and for a youngster moved well in all directions.
