UMFOLOZI
BULL TERRIER CLUB
Championship Show - 04th August 2007
JUDGE
- MRS GEORGIA SCHILLER (Centuria Bull Terriers - RSA)
I
would like to take this opportunity of thanking the Chairman - Dave
Brennan, and his committee for inviting me to judge this Club's 10th
Anniversary Championship Show. It was an honor. I felt very
welcome and at home amongst all of you. I want to thank each and
every exhibitor for bringing your Bull Terriers to take part in this Show,
it is wonderful to see the support that you give to each other, to the
Club and most importantly, to our dear Bullies. Each exhibitor, no
matter the placing, was a winner thanks to the fantastic sponsorships from
aQuellé, Frontline, Cameron's Dry Dog Foods and Gangile Bull Terriers.
What
struck me the most about the Bullies shown, was the many incorrect bites
and instanding canines. I did regard this fault in exact proportion
to its degree, as well as taking the whole Bully's picture into account,
and that is why some of my winners are Bullies with mouth problems.
I do urge breeders to look into this seriously as it seems to be one of
the problems which are occurring more frequently, not alone for showing
and breeding purposes, but also for the health and welfare of the Bullies.
Please
note that this is a short critique, [and not a report], on some of the
points that stood out for me, of every Bully that was shown.
DOGS -
MINOR PUPPY (2 entered, 1 absent)
No 6: GANGILE ZEUS
A big, strong boned minor puppy with great substance.
Strong head with a good curve at his age. Unfortunately undershot.
Moved parallel coming and going. Pity
about that mouth.
PUPPY
(1 entered)
No 11: BRASSHEAD AUSSIE IDOL OF BUKAVI [Imp Australia]
Not a heavy dog.
Head could be more curved and broader.
Teeth correct closing in a scissor bite. Short back. Movement was
parallel front and back.
JUNIOR
(2 entered)
No 20: NATULI PARAMOUNT
RCC DOG WINNER
One canine closing slightly into the gum.
Short back. Movement a
little close behind. I gave this dog RCC above no 24 because at his
younger age he already stands taller and this dog’s head also curved
more and appeared smoother.
No 4: GOODTIMES WARRIORS DAWN
Both canines instanding. This junior dog is a little short on
his legs. Good spring of rib.
OPEN (2 entered)
No 19: CARRADICE OBELIX OF TINTIN
CC DOG WINNER, RESERVE BEST OF BREED, & BEST
MOVER
Head completely filled and strong.
One misplaced bottom incisor. Ears a bit soft at times, but does
hold them stiffly erect when standing.
He has a broad chest and good spring of rib. Movement
very smooth moving with free strides and with a jaunty air. Good thrust
from the hindquarters which are very muscular.
No 24: RHINESTONE READY TO RUMBA OF MALYCWA
A dog with enough substance and a well filled head.
His teeth are undershot. Moves a little wide when viewed from the
front. Would have liked more
muscular second thigh. It was
a close decision between this dog and No 20 for RCC.
VETERAN (1 entered)
No 3: CH. POLLYSSA’S APPRENTICE ARTHUR OF INKUNZI (IMP NETH):
11 Years old but still has the looks.
Strong egg shaped and well filled head.
His teeth have broken and worn down over the years. Substance still
good for his age. Thank you for bringing this old gentleman to grace us
with his presence.
CHAMPIONS (2 entered)
No 13: CH. BUKAVI TITAN
Strong head. Teeth
closing with a correct scissor bite. He looked a bit heavy.
Back slightly long. Moved
parallel both coming and going.
No 16: CH. GWAZA ORION
Head not as good as no.13.
He had adequate spring of rib.
Moved a little close behind.
BITCHES -
Minor Puppy (2 entered, 1 absent)
No 5: GANGILE APHRODITE
BEST HEAD
This bitch has a really classy head. Long with a gently
curve and roman finish. Ears
well placed and held stiffly erect. Unfortunately
her mouth is not correct but I could not ignore all the other virtues of
her head and therefore awarded her with the Best Head on the day.
Puppy (1 entered)
No 21: JOCOCLA BLACK PEGEEN
BEST PUPPY
Teeth closed in a correct scissor bite. I know that lady’s
hate to talk about this subject, but I have to say that this bitch lacks
the upward curve underlining from brisket to belly, due to her being a
little overweight. Good turn
of stifle. Her movement back
and front was parallel.
JUNIOR (4 entered, 1 absent)
No 14: AVONJUL UNMASKED STAR OF BUKAVI
CC BITCH WINNER, BEST OF BREED & BEST COLORED
Although not big, she got my attention with her many virtues.
Her head curves and is free from hollows and indentations.
Ears small which were pointing straight upwards.
Her eyes are dark and have a piercing glint.
1 Canine slightly touching into the gum.
Overall very sound and compact. Muscular neck.
Lovely upward curve underline from brisket to withers.
She has a level topline on her short back.
She carries her tail a little high.
Moves squarely both coming and going.
No 8: MATABOLA BUTTON’S N BOWS
Her eyes are a little round. Her stifles lack adequate bend but
nevertheless her movement is parallel coming and going and smooth when on
the move. I would have liked to have seen her come back in the ring for
this challenge class.
No 22: KARAMAY
Teeth correct with complete scissor bite.
Head could have more curve. Movement
was impossible to judge as the bitch would not co-operate with the handler
that was trying her best.
GRADUATE (1 entered)
No 10: GOODTIMES CLEVER ME
Canines not correctly placed. Neck
is thick. Second thigh could
be more muscular. This bitch
has good substance.
OPEN (6 entered, 1 absent)
No 25: DAJAMANI FIRE ON ICE OF SHODAN
RCC BITCH WINNER
Slightly undershot. Could have more curve of head and has a slight
indentation. Short back. Moved
parallel in front and at the back. Has
good spring of rib.
No 18: ASCHERON BLAZING DIVA
A light boned bitch that could have more spring of rib. Teeth correct.
Slightly long in the back . Very
good mover. Handler talked and encouraged her bitch lovingly during her
whole time in the ring. Nice
to see that, keep it up!
No 23: LIMEBERG HOTSPUR ABIGAIL
Teeth correct. Head has
good curve. Moves a little
close behind.
No 12: BUKAVI SONIC
Teeth correct. Moved
parallel both coming and going. A
little overweight.
No. 7: SUNDUZA CHELSEA:
Strong bitch. Broken
canines and undershot. She is
carrying a bit too much weight. Toes
in when viewed moving from the front.
VETERAN
(1 entered)
No 15: CH NATULI MADISON BLUSH
At 8 years old, this lady can still give the youngsters a good run for
their money. Broken canines.
Her virtue is her strong, egg shaped head.
The owners are looking after her too well as she is carrying excess
weight. Thank you for showing
us that an old champion can grow old gracefully.
CHAMPIONS: (1 entered)
No 26: CH ASCHERON BLAZING COSMOS OF GLENGOWAN
Teeth undershot. Good
spring of rib. Her back could be a little shorter. She stands a little
down on her pasterns. She
moves fairly parallel both coming and going.
