NATAL
BULL TERRIER
CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW
5th JULY 2008
JUDGE
- DIRK
RUPPING (NARCIANO)
It
was a wonderful experience to judge my first Championship Show.
Thanks to the Chairman and the Committee of the Natal Bull Terrier Club,
for this wonderful opportunity.
My
critique is only on the dogs and bitches that won the major awards on the
day.
Bitch
Challenge Certificate :
No 19 - Jococla Black Pegeen
Black and white, with excellent hindquarters. This is a strong and
powerful mature bitch; who moved well - specifically in the way she
propelled herself forward with powerful strides. She is a bit
'lippy', but her head in general is strong and well filled.
Bitch
Reserve Challenge Certificate & Best Puppy :
No 17 - Niroux Can’t Touch This of Dantoren
White. More feminine than the winner, with a good tail set. Unfortunate
to come up against the CC Bitch who just 'clipped' her on the day through
overall virtues and maturity. This exhibit did not enjoy showing at all.
Dog
Challenge Certificate, Reserve Best of Breed & Best Coloured :
No 10 - Brasshead Aussie Idol of Bukavi
[Imp]
Light red in colour and a heavy weight. Movement was good coming and
going, indicating good confirmation. Initially he was keen in what
was happening around him; but as the show progressed, he began to lose
interest - however, he still looked in perfect proportion. His head
is maybe his only downfall. I believe this dog is better than what
the "Specialists" would like to credit him for, only because of
his 'not so popular' colour. On the day, he won on maturity and
overall balance.
Dog
Reserve Challenge Certificate :
No 9 - Lubjan Conquistador of Bukavi
Brindle. Ears right on top of his head, with a keen
expression. He does need more time to mature. Moved well and
has a perfect scissors bite.
Best
of Breed, Best Head & Best White :
No 21 - Ch Rhinestone Rumour has it of Malycwa
White. Outstanding feminine bitch who possess one of the best heads
in the country. Perfect egg shaped head with a piercing
expression. Although she has a good bend of stifle and bone
structure, her movement going away is a bit close. Her main features
is her feminine look and Bull Terrier type.
General
The standard of the exhibits varied on the day, from outstanding and good
to mediocre and very low. Mouths are a big problem that ranged from
undershot, with in-growing and double in-growing canines - which went into
the gums/palates. Movement and top lines were also a concern to some
extent.
